Jim Corbett National Park : Visit to Wildlife Sanctuary in North India


Jim Corbett National Park is a paradise for all animals! It is located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand which is an ideal destination for wildlife lovers as well as nature lovers. Spread over an area of ​​520 square kilometers, this park is divided into 4 different zones. Large lakes, meadows, marshy depressions, hills and riverine belts are included in this national park, providing a panoramic view.

Corbett National Park is one of the first wild life reserve parks in the country which was established in 1936. Earlier it was named Ramganga National Park, but later the park was named Jim Corbett National Park after the famous hunter-turned-patron Jim Corbett. This national park has also been awarded for being the place where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973.

Project Tiger originated with Jim Corbett and is one of the 9 Tiger reserves in the country at Tiger Reserve, Jim Corbett. Talking about animals, apart from tiger, there are many animals and animals such as elephant, chital, sambar, nilgai, gharial, king cobra, wild boar, prickly wild rat, flying fox and Indian chameleon. In addition, there are over 600 species of sparrows present in Jim Corbett.

Dhela Safari Zone :

Located about 13 kilometres from Ramnagar city, the Tiger Reserve in Dhela Corbett National Park is a new eco tourism zone included in November 2014. This buffer is the only area open to tourists in the CTR zone. Due to rich flora and fauna, the region is attracting the attention of a large number of tourists.

Dhikala Safari Zone :

Dhikala Zone being the largest and most diverse area in Corbett, is one of the most visited safari zone for its abundant natural beauty as well as exotic fauna. Situated at a distance of 50 km inside the dense forest, Dhikala is a famous destination for hard core wildlife enthusiasts to spend the night with - Highly recommended for them.

Durga Devi Zone :

Located in the north-eastern corner of the National Corbett Park, Durga Devi zone is a paradise for all tourists who are fond of seeing and listening to birds. The range is famous for bird watching and fishing, including bird species such as maroon orile, great headed fishing eagle, little forktail.

Jhirna Safari Zone :

The Jhirna Safari Zone, a habitat of densely wooded and grassland in Corbett National Park, is another enchanting zone. It is a very important tourist destination as a sloth bear, wild elephant population and growing tiger house which is open to tourists throughout the year.

Bijrani Safari Zone :

Bijrani Safari Zone is a very popular zone of the magnificent Corbett Tiger Reserve due to its abundant natural beauty and open grasslands ranging from pure year forests in the upper reaches of the forest to deciduous mixed forests in the valley as well as three major grasslands. This zone is known for its amazing landscape which is very calm and quite the place. It nurtures a variety of herbivores.

When to go to Jim Corbett?

Jim Corbett National Park experiences 3 different seasons - the best time to visit is between winter from November to February, summer months from March to June as the park remains open to tourists during this time, but as soon as the monsoon season comes, Jim Corbett Park is closed. This is done because the road inside the park is filled with rainwater due to rain. The repair work resumes after the monsoon is over which is completed around November.

How to reach Jim Corbett?

Roadway -

The Jim Corbett National Park is about 260 km from Delhi and Ramnagar is a major city located near Corbett. Ramnagar is connected by road to various cities of Uttarakhand as well as other cities of the country like Moradabad, Bareilly and Delhi. Several buses ply from Delhi, Moradabad and Haldwani to Ramnagar and Corbett National Park is just 15 km from Ramnagar. If you want to reach Jim Corbett by road directly from Delhi then it will take you 5-6 hours.

Railway -

Ramnagar is also the nearest railway station to Jim Corbett. There is also a direct train from Delhi to Ramnagar. Apart from this, if you want, you can reach Haldwani or Kathgodam by train from Delhi and from there you can go to Ramnagar or directly to Jim Corbett National Park by taxi.
